Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Wildfire Relief for Local Ranchers
In 2021, ranchers in Meagher County faced unprecedented wildfires that destroyed fences, hay fields, and outbuildings, and damaged the contents of the structures that remained. The Meagher County Community Foundation responded by awarding several mini-grants to help our neighbors manage some of their unexpected expenses. These grants offered more than financial relief—they allowed us to recognize the challenges our community members were facing and to show our support as they worked to recover.
“Our cows and us and very appreciative of your thoughtful generosity.”
“It is hard to put prices on these, but we Thank You for your most generous help!”
The support made a meaningful difference—helping with everything from feed and hay, to fence repairs, to cleaning mold- and water-damaged cabin walls and floors, and even replacing everyday necessities like rugs, shoes, bedding, and curtains.
This is just one of many ways MCCF reaches out to our neighbors to invest in the well-being of our county’s residents during times of difficulty.
